The final chapter of the unlikely story of Scottie Pippen's playing career will essentially come to fruition on Friday when the Bulls legend is inducted in to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of its Class of 2010.

"The subtle things that he did so well-defensively helping his teammates, recovering out to guys offensively, making plays, being unselfish-those are things that teammates always recognize and noticed," John Paxson said of Scottie Pippen.

There certainly are players who have scored more, shot better, jumped higher, run faster and been more popular. But there may be no one tougher than Scottie Pippen, who will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Friday.

The Chicago Bulls announced Wednesday the team has signed free agent guard/forward Keith Bogans. Bogans (6-5, 215) is a seven-year veteran of the NBA, who spent last season with the San Antonio Spurs.

Horace Grant said he knew his buddy was destined for greatness. And if anyone really knew, it was Horace, who teamed with Scottie Pippen when they came to the Bulls together in the 1987 draft like Butch and Sundance, Damon and Pythias.

"I'm just proud I had the opportunity to coach him," said Scottie Pippen's high school coach, Donald Wayne. "Hopefully other kids who come through Hamburg can see through Scottie that if you work hard and follow your dreams, anything can happen."

The Chicago Bulls will tip off their 45th season on Wednesday, Oct. 27 in Oklahoma City against the Thunder. As part of the NBA's Kia Motors NBA Tip-Off '10 schedule, the game will be nationally televised on ESPN beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Bulls legend Scottie Pippen will be presented by Michael Jordan during his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday, Aug. 13 in Springfield, Mass.

"Here's a guy who started out washing socks and jocks, and now he's on his way to the Hall of Fame," said Don Dyer, who coached Scottie Pippen at Central Arkansas.

"Michael couldn't have done it by himself," said Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf of the team's dynasty in the 1990s. "The rest of the players and Michael would not have been enough. It took Scottie to put us over the top those six times."

"The credit goes to Scottie," said former teammate and longtime friend Pete Myers of Pippen's induction to the Hall of Fame. "This guy came in as a raw athlete with a decent skill level and turned himself into one of the elite players in the league."

"I don't know what position Scottie was; he was just a basketball player," said B.J. Armstrong of Bulls legend Scottie Pippen, who will be enshrined in basketball's Hall of Fame on Aug. 13. "He could dribble, shoot, pass and rebound..."

"Scottie had a great career, played hard and sacrificed a lot of his game," said Bill Wennington of Pippen, who will enter basketball's Hall of Fame on Aug. 13. "He proved in the first year I was here that he was a great player in his own right."

USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo announced on July 28 that 15 players, including Bulls guard Derrick Rose, have been selected as finalists for the 2010 USA World Championship Team.

The Chicago Bulls announced today the team has signed free agent forward/center Kurt Thomas. Thomas (6-9, 230), a 15-year NBA veteran, has posted averages of 8.8 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 966 career games.

The Chicago Bulls acquired the signed-and-traded contract of guard C.J. Watson from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for a future second-round draft choice on July 22.

The Chicago Bulls announced on July 19 the team has signed free agent guard Ronnie Brewer. "He brings great versatility on both ends of the floor and will be an excellent addition to our backcourt," said General Manager Gar Forman.
